Exaggerated Impact; Is the world causing feelings?
Can we be more free?
Let’s talk about thinking.
Maybe as you read this,
you will find something new here,
about the relationship between
thinking and reality.
Before I begin, here is what I estimate might happen:
Maybe you will disagree with me.
You might even think I’m weird or crazy.
Let’s begin.
We’re living in the feeling of our thinking.
What? You might ask. Aren’t we living in the world?
Well, yes, the world does exist,
but there’s no way to verify our observations about it.
And, the world’s impact on our experience,
has been vastly exaggerated.
As we think a thought about the world,
We feel it.
Bad thoughts and bad feelings
feel very heavy, it feels like they can hurt us,
it feels like other people can put them into us.
That’s not true.
It feels like we’re really messed up.
But that’s not true.
The thoughts don’t have power,
and they’re not important.
and if we leave them alone, they will pass.
No matter what happens,
no matter what another person told you –
What you’re feeling is your thinking,
and it’s coming from you.
You can be affected and bothered by something,
or not.
Take a minute, to feel that other option: or not.
Can we be more free like that?
As we learn to be a bit more free,
to take let thoughts go,
Our well-being improves,
And there is more room for
inspiration,
flow,
creativity,
to run through our loves.
(Quoting and inspired by Michael Neill, Mara Gleason, Syd Banks)
Maybe you disagree with me.
You might even think I’m weird or crazy.
Now, please, go on into your own lives,
and see if some reflections on what you’ve read here,
Are coming your way.
